I-195 is the spine of the region. It begins in Wareham at the head of Buzzards Bay, runs past Marion and Mattapoisett, through New Bedford and Dartmouth, over the Braga Bridge at Fall River and on through Swansea into Rhode Island. Providence is around twenty minutes from Fall River and a little over half an hour from New Bedford. Boston, by comparison, is about an hour away — north on Route 24 from Fall River, or up Route 140 through Freetown to join it near Taunton — and longer once the traffic builds.

For dating, that map matters more than the state line. From Swansea or Somerset, East Providence is far easier to reach than Wareham.
